“This little light of mine; I’m gonna let it shine. This little light of mine; I’m gonna let it shine. This little light of mine; I’m gonna let it shine, let it shine, let it shine, all the time…” Do these song lyrics take you back to when you were an eight-year-old child in Sunday school, singing your heart out to Jesus while waving your pointer finger in the air? Or maybe this reminds you of listening to a tone-deaf group of kids loudly and joyfully singing for the church?
Let It Shine
From a very young age, I was taught that we were created for one reason: to shine the light of Jesus and share his love with others. God has called us to love Him and love others. As a nurse, I live this calling out everyday at work. I am blessed to share the love of Jesus through providing care and education to my patients and their family members. While I love my work, God is directing me to carry out this calling in a new way. He is sending me to serve His people in Kenya, Africa!
All Around the Neighborhood
Singing this song as a young child, I never realized what “neighborhood” meant. Being from rural Nebraska, I didn’t really have a “neighborhood” and our nearest “neighbors” were half a mile away. However, my childlike understanding has grown and changed. Today I realize that God calls us to share His love all around His neighborhood—the entire world. I am excited that He is calling me to share His love with the people in Kenya, Africa where I will be teaching about health and hygiene while also sharing the Good News of our Savior Jesus Christ! I couldn’t think of a better job!
Don’t Let Satan “Poof” It Out
As I prepare for this next stage in my life, I am overjoyed that you have become a part of it! I know that what God is doing in my life would not be possible without your generous gifts and prayers. Please continue to pray that God would prepare my heart and the hearts of those I will be serving. Pray that I would have great courage and many opportunities to share the gospel with others. Finally, please join me in praying that through this work, many would come to know Jesus as you and I do! Again, thanks for becoming a part of this mission team! God’s blessings to you!
